Shoulder hits to the head are still allowed in the NHL, but change may soon come. After Marc Savard of the Boston Bruins became the latest player to receive the legal shoulder blow in last week’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the NHL planned to discuss this topic during a three-day summit this week.
The Canadian Hockey League has already outlawed shoulder-to-head hits and has suspended players for engaging in these dirty tactics.
